Actor Dhananjaya fondly recalls his time in Mangaluru, where he worked as a techie at a prominent IT firm in Kottara for six months. This experience not only allowed him to delve into the vibrant art and culture of the coastal region but also led to his recent attendance at the Dasara festivities in Kudla. Reflecting on his return, Dhananjaya shared, "The Navratri celebrations were often discussed, and it was a nostalgic joy to revisit the area with fresh eyes."
While in Mangaluru, Dhananjaya immersed himself in Tulu dramas and Yakshagana performances during his leisure time. Despite his limited knowledge of Tulu language, he found immense pleasure in the dramas, highlighting the transcendent nature of art beyond linguistic barriers. He expressed gratitude for the enriching experience, stating, "I learned a great deal from that period."
Dhananjaya expressed admiration for the coastal region's dedication to preserving its traditional art forms, emphasizing the inherent beauty of any place in its language, art, and culture. His encounter with the mesmerizing tiger dance and even a chance to perform on stage left a lasting impression. Although not a proficient dancer, his role in the film "Kotee," where he performed the Huli Vesha, provided insights into the significance of art and culture in sustaining and uniting communities. Dhananjaya emphasized the importance of safeguarding these cultural treasures, stating, "Art and culture are integral to our well-being and must be safeguarded at all costs."
